Regent's Report

July 1996

Kevin Langdon P.O. Box 795 Berkeley, CA 94701 (510) 524-0345 75061.3251@compuserve.com

Elsewhere in this issue is a report by Elections Officer Ray Suttles listing official results of the 1996 election. I am grateful to members who voted for me for Regent and will endeavor to serve the Society to the best of my ability. Congratualtions to our new Ombudsman, Dale Adams, and new Members-at-Large, Hal Darancette, Jennifer Foster, Larry Jess, and Wilson Ogg.

The following two motions, both proposed by me, have been passed by the Executive Committee, by votes of 6-0 (I haven't heard from Kerry Williams since the June ExCom Memo):

1. Julia Cybele Cachia, Greg Grove, Robert Kopp, Kevin Langdon, and Henry Milligan are appointed to serve on the TNS Psychometrics Committee. Michael Madow shall be an alternate member of the Committe, to vote when a member disqualifies himself on a particular issue (as I intend to do in the case of any vote on my own tests) and to become a full member of the Committee in the event of a vacancy. The Committee shall elect its own Chairman. The Committee shall be responsible for revising TNS' admission standards.

2. Applicants furnishing proof of membership in the ISPE shall be accepted into the Triple Nine Society without providing additional evidence of qualification for membership.

Please note that, although the Psychometrics Committee motion included the appointment of Bob Kopp and me as members of the Committee, the motion received the four votes required for passage, with two vacancies on the outgoing ExCom, even without Bob's vote and mine.

The first issue of the Psychometrics Committee Newsletter will be published at approximately the same time as this issue of Vidya. Like the ExCom Memo, this Newsletter is available to any member of TNS on request. I will edit the first two or three issues of the Newsletter, after which it will be edited by the Chairman of the Committee, to be elected.

I would like to request once again that members of TNS who support any or all of the Constitutional amendments proposed by me which were printed in Vidya #151/152 complete the petition form printed with the proposed amendments and send it to the Editor.
