Members of TNS are meeting this year as a sub-gathering of the Mensa Annual Gathering (AG) on July 4, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bristol Lounge of the Hotel Intercontinental, Dallas, Texas, where the Regent, Ted Robinson, is offering a complimentary first round of drinks to attending TNS members. TNS members may wish to wear a TNS shirt to help identify themselves, and that and other TNS logo-ware is available from the TNS Emblem Shop on www.triplenine.org. TNS members attending the Mensa AG may find more detailed TNS-related activity by contacting the hospitality suite of TNS, which will be under the Regent's name, Edward B. Robinson. It will located on the fifth floor of the Intercontinental Hotel beginning in the late afternoon of July 4th through the morning of July 8. Until then, updated information may be obtained from one of the two TNS AG coordinators, Lee Arhelger at [e-mail address deleted] or Don Hawkins at [e-mail address deleted].
At the San
Francisco Regional Mensa RG ("Brilliance by the Bay" ;-) ). The RG was on the
Thanksgiving weekend, officially from Friday afternoon, November 29th, to Sunday noon,
December 1st at the Hyatt Hotel at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francsico. The TNS meeting was
Sunday, Dec 1st at 12:30 PM in the Eureka Room (3rd floor). Rita Charles, Jacquelinne
White, and I worked together on this meeting, with a nudge from Lee Arhelger.
Rita wrote: "We are actually on the program! There will be an informal meet and greet
for all interested Mensans and TNS'rs [and members of the other high-IQ societies --KL].
Kevin Langdon will give a presentation on the history of the High IQ Societies and then we
may venture out for seafood two blocks away." Here's the writeup on my talk:
"The Other High-IQ Societies, Kevin Langdon
Since the 1960's there have been a number of high-IQ societies with cutoffs ranging from
the 98th percentile through the 99.9999th percentile. This talk will survey the various
societies and their histories. Kevin Langdon has been a member of several of the
societies, including the ISPE, the Triple Nine Society, the Four Sigma Society, the
Prometheus Society, and the Mega Society."
